According to foreign media reports, ABI research, a well-known market research organization, predicts that Chinese equipment manufacturers Huawei Technology and ZTE jointly control three quarters of the world's optical broadband client equipment (CPE) market.
Among them, ZTE is the leader in the broadband client equipment market, and Huawei ranks third after arris.
The research institute predicts that the total global broadband client equipment shipment in 2013 is expected to exceed 146 million.
Driven by the net increase in broadband users and the upgrading of existing customers, the total shipment of such devices is expected to continue to expand before 2020.
ABI estimates that the current total shipment volume has reached 154.8 million.
Jack Saunders, vice president and head of business unit of ABI research, said: in many countries, DSL operators are committed to upgrading existing networks with advanced technologies, such as VDSL2 vectorization, in order to improve network speed.
The technology upgrade is expected to drive the shipment of DSL broadband client devices in the next few years.
ABI points out that optical fiber client equipment is expected to account for about 26% of the total equipment shipment in 2013, mainly due to the increasing DSL upgrading.
Meanwhile, the shipment of DSL client devices decreased by more than 6%, while that of cable broadband devices increased by 2% to 55 million units. |
